Eco Tan is an Australian company which was founded in 2009 by single-mother and Gold Coast entrepreneur Sonya Driver after her world was turned upside down. Sonya found herself unemployed, single and raising her daughters by herself when she was hit by another blow: her beloved sister had been diagnosed with a melanoma at the age of 30. Instead of falling apart, Sonya used this upheaval as a reason to remain strong and positive and through this hardship Eco Tan was born!

Realising the risks of sun exposure, Sonya and her sister sought out spray tans to keep their bronze glow but soon discovered that there were no organic tanning products on the market. Knowing that the skin is the body’s largest organ and that what we apply to it can be absorbed into the bloodstream, Sonya began to research ingredients in conventional tanning products as well as cosmetic and body care products. She became concerned about the chemicals that were being applied to her skin and to her sister’s already compromised body and became compelled to develop sunless tanning products that were safe, natural and organic.

This lead to the development of the Australian company Eco Tan and Sonya made Australian history by creating the first natural and organic tanning product to use ingredients certified by the Organic Food Chain under the Australian Government.
