Health Benefits of Using Apple Cider Vinegar

It’s always nice to discover that there are multiple uses for a food product that many of us have in our kitchen cupboard. This is the case for apple cider vinegar, a flavourful condiment which is packed with minerals and other health properties. There are so many uses for organic apple cider vinegar, the list is practically endless. It can be used on your skin, hair, home, food, pets and many other things.

Here are 8 of the most amazing and popular uses for organic apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a wonderful and powerful natural disinfectant which absorbs odours and leaves your home sparkling! Just mix half a cup of ACV with one cup of filtered water and start using it on anything from the toilet, bathroom surfaces, appliances, kitchen surfaces, windows mirrors. By replacing other cleaning products with this natural alternative we avoid exposing ourselves and our family and pets to unnatural and toxic chemicals.

ACV is wonderful for absorbing odours and leaving your house smelling wonderful. If you have a funny smell in any room of your house, from the bathroom to the kitchen, just place some apple cider vinegar in a bowl and place it near the odour. You can also soak a kitchen towel in AVC and leave it in the bottom of the bin for a few hours to cancel out any dustbin odours.

ACV is a great and natural way to repeal and keep fleas off your furry friends. Simply one part ACV and one part water in a spray bottle and spray it onto their fur before rubbing it into the skin. This should be well tolerated but you can check with your vet first if your pet has sensitive skin.

ACV has anti-microbial properties and is a natural way to combat bad breath. Simply gargle with a small sip of apple cider vinegar and some plain water each morning to banish bad breath.

Apple cider vinegar has skin soothing and cooling properties which make it perfect for applying to sore, peeling, and sunburnt skin. Just add a cup of ACV to your bath and your skin will be feeling better in no time.

It may sound nonsensical to treat heartburn with an acidic compound like ACV, but heartburn is actually caused by LOW stomach acid which allows bacteria to proliferate and push gas up the oesophagus. Therefore apple cider vinegar may provide relief by rebalancing the acid levels in the digestive system. Take one teaspoon of ACV with a glass of water and you should feel relief soon. Please do not do this if you have an ulcer!

Acetic acid, a compound in apple cider vinegar, is known to soothe sore muscles when applied topically. Add a cup of ACV to your bath after a heavy workout, or rub some on your muscles for relief.

Apple cider vinegar is a wonderful natural conditioner and treatment for hair and it creates wonderful shine and volume. Make a mixture of 1-2 tablespoons of ACV and 2 cups of filtered water in an old shampoo bottle and then rinse the hair thoroughly with this mixture after you have shampooing.
